Over the past 8 years, Horn Fishery has been working hard to establish fishery business in the city of Mogadishu. The Company was Established 2015 by Dahir Galbete to gather information on the market for the fishery products in Somalia – King fish, Tuna, Emperor, Haamour, Red snapper, Trivally, Baracuda, Black, Hamarour, Malaba trivally and Grover.
With this information, and a detailed understanding of the present situation in terms of the supply changing technology and the existing of the businesses involved, it has been possible to identify the best opportunities for the future.
The company is owned and shared primarily among two members and necessary equity partners. An initial of $150,000 was invested in fishery facility with cold storage ranging 70-ton capacity in 2015. The organizational concept that we used was to have a limited liability company that provides service that is developed along managed lines on the fishery industry allowing, at the same time to first to provide supply to the local fishery markets for daily consumption by the city’s population using the two fishery boats for an entry to the market.
Improving the quality of the fish industry, through reducing unemployment and
poverty, and effecting change in the areas of human resource development, basic
government services, rural development and poverty alleviation, and institutional
and structural transform.
